Who was the best Bond? Who was the best Batman?

  2. Riche613 says:

Hey guys so I know I already kinda sumbmited this via Twitter but I figured I should make it official.

What are your favorite bluray special features, Easter eggs or bluray excluesives that you can only get on bluray(or HD DVD I guess).

Personally I love the documentaries on discs like invincable iron man, iron man, jla: final fronteir amoung other comic and scifi franchise because it helps you understand and learn about the original characters and there evolution through time thus far.

Thanks guys and I think I got another one in the works

  3. Riche613 says:

    Hey there Atomic Geeks!

Looks like I’m back again for another stab at the fabled Geeks t shirt.

So how bout this….The Atomic Geeks Survive the Zombie Apocalypse? with the recent release of the zombie parody Zombieland im left wondering what the Atomic Geeks would do if zombies were over running the earth.

A few things to think about if your survival plan includes the following:

1.Raid the gun Store……this is usually most peoples first thought and thus in reality if zombies did attack think of how many people are going to be headed for the same gun shop you are, and also you think the store owner is going to let you steal his guns? i think not

2.Get out of town…… More people these days live in huge cities and in an event of a zombie attack being in a heavily populated city is not good, so what do you do as soon as you hear that there are zombies coming? pack the car and head to the queensway and get out of the city right? well good idea but that’s what the other million or so people are all doing at the same time too and thus the worst rush hour gridlock ever and your chances again fall dramatically.

    3. stay where you are and or/ fortify your position……once again another popular idea. like in Sean of the Dead you could go down to the pub, fortify yourself and hold out till it “blows over”. hmmmm, one problem, if it truly is the zombie apocalypse remember this: fortifying yourself and waiting till it “blows over” only works if your enemy is going to stop or move on. Zombies don’t get bored or impatient, they need nothing to keep them alive, and they aren’t really known for their cunning plan.: No cons will be weighed here. Food is a pro. You are food. You are there. So there are only pros. They will wait for you forever. But you will run out of supplies eventually, and every day you stay put in fortified position is another day zombies pile up outside. Zombies aren’t a threat because they thin out gradually over time – they’re a threat because they multiply!

    4. Conserve ammo, use hand held weapons and blunt objects when possible……now the down side to this one might not seem so obvious. So you have your shot gun but you only have 200 rounds for it, what happens then? so instead of shooting every zombie you decide to pick up a machete or bat and hack and beat them to pieces. To most people this sounds like a a good way to conserve ammo and thus survive longer, but think of this: The zombies are coming and you’ve fought them off through the gun shop out of the city and survived the massacre at the bunker you tried to fortify, your tired, hungry, thirsty and worst of all wounded and running out of ammo. now assuming you haven’t been bitten by a zombie already your plan is to hack the zombies for a while and save ammo. one problem, any contact with the bodily fluids of zombies, blood likely included, infects then bashing a zombies head in, which is a very messy job, is not a good idea as you will be splattered with zombie blood and maybe get infected through your open wounds.

    5. Aim for the Head…..everyone knows that the only way to kill a zombie is to shoot them in the head. head shot are awesome in video games and movies but let think about this in terms of reality here, head shot are frinkin hard to pull off, especially if you are surrounded by zombies. so while your waiting and aiming for that perfect head shot on that one zombie to the left there are probably five more to the right getting that much closer to killing you as you take your time on that wonderful head shot.

So there you go. Hope that gives you something to think about and I hope that doesn’t ruin all you plans. Good luck in the survival of the human race Atomic Geeks!

  4. Riche613 says:

DING DING!! Round Three , FIGHT!

Alright got another one for ya guys.

What are your Top 5 or 10 geeks/sci-fi gadgets of all time and which ones would you choose to have in real life and why. The gadgets and devices can come from all forms of media: comics, books, tv, movies and games. With your top picks consider this

    1. What does the device do and how?
    2. How could your pick help you or society?
    3. What would the possible downsides of your pick be?
    4. Could there be a ripple effect the comes along with picking a device to be brought into reality. Example could be how human relationships seem to suffer with the invention of surrogates.
    5. Is there anything else that needs to be brought into reality to make your device or gadget work. Example for this: if you chose say a phaser from Star Trek, ya its cool but if you have it what are you going to do when it runs out of power, you will need the “battery charger” wont you.

    DING DING!!

Alright that does it for my show topic submission round three. But dont count me beat yet, I’ll be back for round four soon enough.

  5. Riche613 says:

Ok said I’d be back soon, and I wasn’t kidding.

Now I know you guys did the holly wood remake episode, actually I wrote a blog about that after listening to the episode, but you didn’t really talk about what you think should be remade or made for that matter. So here is my spin on the Hollywood remake and the Hollywood touch.

What are your picks for a new movie version of say a comic book, video game or book. After hearing you guys do a casting call and your views on remakes and some different comic franchises in the works to becoming movies i think its about time we heard the Atomic Geeks have their chance to green light new movies based on other characters and franchises from other mediums. i really think you guys could probably talk about something like this for hours so I’m pretty sure this one is right up your comic book aisle.

  6. Here are a few suggestions…

What are some of the best and worst TV series finales?

Have you guys not done a comic book podcast yet? You’ve talked about super heroes on TV and in movies, but have you done a best comic book runs of your childhood cast in the style of your action figures or video games casts?

You should do a cast about 70s and 80s action TV shows, like Six Million Dollar Man, Magnum, PI, Rockford Files, Miami Vice, and best of all, THE A-TEAM! You could also do a cast where you guys re-imagined yourselves in the style of an 80s action TV series.

I second Jersey Mike’s suggestion about James Bond. There are infinite things to discuss about that franchise.

Were any of you guys ever in to RPGs (D&D, etc) or was that more nerdy and less geeky?

If Brian Michael Bendis were going to reimagine the Atomic Geeks in the “Ultimate Marvel” universe, what would the Ultimate Atomic Geeks be like?

The Atomic Geeks: One Year Later…It’s exactly one year in the future since your last podcast. What’s the world like? What has happened? What do you like a year from now. Why is Christian wearing an eyepatch?

Best death scenes in comics, TV, or movies.

    Favorite cult classics

Atomic Geek Challenge: Each of you gets assigned a comic book company and you then come up with the perfect four or five person team from that company. Your teams will then fight to determine which comic company has the coolest characters of all time.

Going to conventions and meeting geek celebrities…surely you guys have stories, right?

  7. David goodman says:

How about movies that you liked but everyone else hated?

  8. Riche613 says:

    OK back with more….

After going back to some older episodes specifically the desert island and genie episodes i came up with this idea THE ATOMIC GEEKS SURVIVE THE END OF HUMANITY!

Ok so it goes like this in the near future the geeks are all conveniently all together getting something out of a bank vault or maybe checking out the Diefenbunker, when boom an unforeseen fluke in the hadron collider creates not a wormhole or black hole but a unidentified anomaly that makes all humans on earth spontaneously combust, except for our heroes of coarse.

Now with the world devoid of almost all life but everything else untouched and preserved perfectly almost as if everyone was just beamed away, what do the geeks do? if you can go anywhere and do anything with no consequences what do you do? find Stan Lee’s address and go see his “crib”? Go to the nearest best buy and start up the BBQ in the home theater area and play Arkum asylum on 30+ HDTVs?

Whats A Geek To Do With The World At His Disposel?

  9. Downs says:

    oh man Riche
I really like your latest suggestion

  10. Riche613 says:

thanks Downs, I thought it was one of my better ones. Still have a few more ideas down on paper just gotta flesh them out a little more, safe to say one way or another Ima get me an Atomic Tshirt. Also what about a hoodie for the winter months? It is Canada afterall.

  11. Jynxx-Marie says:

o.O I have an idea! :D Let’s see if I can explain this well enough to make it seem as mind-blowing as it is in my head! LOL

Okay: so, here goes: If you could compile 5 of your favorite celebrity geeks (be it scientist, actor/actress, singer/songwriter, comic book hero/creator, etc…) into one “Atomic Geek”. Who would each of you choose? Why? You have to be sure to include the specific attributes of each famous geek that you want this new “hybrid Geek” to have…Now this can either be fashioned in to a geek that you wish you could be, wish you could be friends with, or even date…

Yup, doesn’t sound as cool written down as it did in my head, but there ya go…:D

  12. Mike Correia says:

Time Travel! Do a show on the best and worst use of time travel in movies and television (Heroes, Back to the Future, Lost – hell even Timecop or Timeline).

Great show….and I want to expose it to the world whilst trying to squeeze into a XXL shirt….

  13. QuestionMark says:

    OK here’s my suggestion:

Best Geek movies and TV shows by Decade. 1950’s, 60’s till 2010.
It would make a great series.

  14. Jynxx-Marie says:

Okay, so here is idea #2:

How The Geeks Would Respond To The Loss Of Technology In Entirety:

-What you’d miss most/don’t think you could live without
-How it would affect your lives
-What changes to your lifestyles you’d have to make
    -What you’d do for fun
-How would you compensate for its loss

  15. JKho says:

How about this for an episode idea::

Which of The Atomic Geeks’ “significant others” is the geekies? We could have four categories:

    - TV shows
    - movies
    - comic books
    - Mac vs PC

    Gimme my t-shirt!!!!

  16. Downs says:

some really great suggestions here folks
    and guess what
    you spoke and we listened
NEXT week’s episode will be one of the ones suggested here
and ONE of you will receive an Atomic Geeks T-shirt
    woohoo
    I’m excited

  17. Riche613 says:

That’s Awesome! I cant wait to see who wins! Good luck to everyone who submitted an idea! In the meantime I think I’m going to start my bid for the next T shirt.

1.The Atomic Geeks in the supernatural world. If the geeks were somehow transported into the supernatural world of werewolves, witches, wizards, vampires and the like, what would you do? who would you be? would you be a vampire so you could live forever and not age and then when your 100 you can go back to high school and hit on high school girls like the Twilight kid? or maybe you want to be a sorcerer and be able to cast spells over people?

    2. I think its about time for another casting call episode, this time with all the rumors around the new and supposed Star Wars live action show i think the Atomic Geeks should discuss not only who should star in this new television adaptation of SW but also what could work and what wouldn’t work as a plot and/or locations for the show. Should the show be about Boba Fett? maybe go off and pull a “bird of Prey” and have Luke’s son be the center of the series.

    3. Here’s one that takes little explanation, the Top 5 or 10 “B” movies of all time.

    4. How about a discussion on 3D movies both old and new? Like your experiences with 3D of the past and what you guys think of the advancement of the technology and where you think it will go, if anywhere, from here.

    5. What do you guys think the ultimate “Dream Geek Jobs and vacations” are? Jobs could be games tester screening movies or things like that and vacations could be say Tokyo or maybe Las Vegas or even Disneys Epcot Center.

And finally I think that a lot of people have submitted good ideas and many more will come, but I also think that a lot of these ideas might not be able to warrant a full hour to hour and a half long Atomic Geeks episode, thus my final idea: Listener Idea Compilation episode. I think this would be a great way to satisfy multiple listeners and their ideas in one episode maybe pick 3 ideas and have a few different discussions in an episode. That way you can “Tier” the “Free Shirt Contest”, say if you guys use an idea and get a full episode out of it someone gets a shirt, but on the other hand if they have a good idea that isn’t quite deep enough for a full episode but still worth talking about they still get their name mentioned on The Atomic Geeks podcast, and really isn’t that better than a T shirt anyway?

  18. mark dury says:

    Dangerous ideas.
Uwe Boll has a trailer out for his new, um, film, Rampage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSRSoncoV4k
It’s more or less just violence porn about some loser shooting up random people. Makes me think about what other films or shows have presented material that you may find entertaining, but wonder if it’s going to give some people the wrong idea. I’m not just talking about horror films, like the Saw series, but really just more general ideas… Like is it helpful if a tv show explains just how easy it is to keybump a lock? Or the best way to dispose of a body? I love getting the inside scoop on the little bits of tradecraft that criminals use, and authenticity is important, but have you ever watched something that just makes you think ” um, ok, that’s kind of neat, but I don’t know that I want the crazies out there learning how to do that”? I don’t want to rehash the tired old video game violence causes real violence argument (they don’t by-the-way), just films and TV.
Similarly, what are your favourite tips and tricks you’ve gleaned from the tube over the years?
there. now where is my shirt?

  19. Riche613 says:

Ok got another one. So you guys have talked about your favorite scifi shows, different superhero shows, done recasting and casting calls for movies , you’ve done reviews at gunpoint and so on. However I don’t think you guys have ever talked about your favorite and/or best TV Miniseries of all time and i think its about time.

  20. Since you guys are fond of topics where civilization is destroyed, I thought I’d give you this idea…

The earth is dying and a “Noah’s Ark” project has been enacted by the world governments. A spaceship full of children and a select group of scientists and engineers will be launched into outer space towards a new home. On the ship will be copious amounts of information about math and science, but additional resources about the art and culture of Earth will be sent along so that the citizens of New Earth can know about the Earth that was. Unfortunately, The Atomic Geeks have not been chosen to go but have been asked to select five geek things to go on the Ark. What five items will represent geekdom that was and be a launching point for geekdom to come on a new world?

  21. Tired Canadian says:

    My turn.
Firstly a Star Trek episode is long overdue.
Secondly a John Carpenter discussion might be fun.
Thirdly an episode were The Atomic Geeks have turned into female geek icons, you have to pick which one you want to be and why, and must pick a male geek icon to “mate” with, again pick one and do tell why!! Of course by female geek icons i mean Wonder Woman, Princess Leia, Dejah Thoris and such like and by male geek icons i mean Han Solo, Snake Plissken, Carson Napier and so on.
Thanks and have a swell day.

  22. QuestionMark says:

    Another suggestion…

A thread on the site where us lowly listeners could post our Atomic picks, and maybe you could use a few choice ones each week for the show.

P.S. I don’t need another T-Shirt if you use this. Mrs. QuestionMark isn’t all that jealous yet. When she is, she’ll just take mine.

  23. jynx_marie says:

Alrighty, well, it’s almost Christmas time, so I figured a holiday geared episode is warranted. Why not talk about the toy you always dreamed of getting from Santa but never got. Or perhaps a christmas list made up of all the gadgets you wish you owned. Which of you guys would be on Santa’s good list, and which of you is on the naughty list?! Another idea: Best geek-geared xmas vacay…describe it…where you’d go, what you’d do…that old chestnut…lol

  24. Jynx_marie is correct. The holidays are upon us. Is the only way to get this fine T-shirt by winning it? Is there no Atomic Geeks store where we can purchase fine Atomic Geeks merchandise? Where’s my Michael DiGiovanni action figure? Or my Christian “Hunkburger” Nielsen poster? Or my Mike Downs home brew kit? Or best of all, my Andrew Bloom throw rug? Come on people, I have gifts to buy!

  25. Christian says:

Hunkburger poster? Hmmm…I wonder if I still have those portfolio pictures from my days as a office supplies catalogue model?

  26. QuestionMark says:

    Sorry CT,

No rugs. But if you go the the Atomic Geeks restaurant you can get the Andrew Bloomin Onion.

  27. That doesn’t sound appealing at all. I hate hair in my food.

  28. Andrew says:

    But it’s deep fried hair….

    mmmmmmmMMMmm

  29. Do they also sell gyros and dolmades at this restaurant? Oh, wait…maybe I’m confusing it with the Atomic Greeks.

  30. QuestionMark says:

    OK, an actual suggestion,

How about a reboot and remake mania special. Talk about the good and bad remakes and reboots coming down the pike. Mad Max, Clash of the Titans, Conan the Barbarian, etc.. What should be made, what shouldn’t.

  31. geekygirl64 says:

for a new episode…maybe it’s time to revisit Lost – it’s kind of timely right now because in a few weeks it will be all over.

    gg64 (who NEEDS a t-shirt!)

  32. newtown says:

It may be similar to some other posts but have you considered a Y: The Last Man episode? As in, you are Y: The Last Man?

  33. Cordy says:

You guys seem to have covered the cinematic realization of comic books fairly extensively. Have you considered an episode dedicated to the best & worst movie adaptations of books, television shows, songs or music videos (can’t be too many of those) or other media? Maybe cover some that were good & bad that held true to the original media and maybe others that were good & bad that departed extensively from their origins.

  34. Cordy says:

Forgot to mention this in that last post: Video game adaptations could be another category. You could also cover adaptations of these media you would like to see that have not yet happened.

I’m sure you could cover all of this stuff in an episode that wouldn’t last much longer than 4 hours… And I would listen to EVERY. SINGLE. MINUTE!

  35. A little throw away line in this last week’s episode made me think of another idea. That idea is The Atomic Geeks put together a geek time capsule. Each geek contributes an item or three for a time capsule not to be opened for a specified amount of time. Why do you choose the items you suggest and what do you hope their impact will be when the capsule is opened in the future? (I guess this idea is a bit similar to my “Noah’s Ark Project” suggestion.)

No T-shirt needed if you use anymore of my ideas. I give them to you expecting nothing in return. Take them or leave them.

  36. Eric T says:

Send CT’s T-shirts to me :) I’m lazy and all but one Idea of mine has already been mentioned.

Best comic book story arcs, one off’s, and graphic novels of all time.

    Thats all I got.

  37. Another idea that sort of spiraled off of a tweet that DiGio just did…

    “The Atomic Geeks v. ________”

It’s sort of like the versus episodes, but instead of pitting various cultural icons against each other, you pit yourself against cultural icons. How would The Atomic Geeks foil other great teams such as The A-Team, the Scooby-Doo gang, the Scoobies (Buffy), the Superfriends, etc.? You have the advantage over these other teams because you know their MO and their weaknesses. Plot the perfect heist or crime that these iconic teams can’t solve or stop.

  38. Duncan says:

Just a few ideas i thought I’d throw out there.

    The Atomic Geeks Movie!
This idea came to me when I saw the episode title for “Casting Call”.
The atomic geeks film rights have been acquired by Warner bros on the sole condition that you may cast your the actors to play your fellow geeks. Each geek is given a random member to cast while they must also find someone they think would fit their role (similar to the “Geeks are moving” episode). This will not solely be based on looks but personalities as well, for example what type of characters that actor usually plays. The individual will also decide details about how they will be portrayed in this motion picture. With no restriction to budget the geeks will choose their occupation, place of residence, and of course the actress to act as their respected loved one.

    The Ultimate Crossovers!
Unrestrained by pesky copyright laws and trademarks what stories would you like to be told with a mix of your favorite characters, stories, and settings. Maybe an Indiana Jones and Jack Bower team-up, or maybe the Fantastic Four have been dumped in the center of Middle Earth.
It’s the Greatest marvel team-up ever!

  39. Duncan says:

    The Atomic Geeks Videogame Pitches!

This seemed like a logical progression from the Attack of the Movie Executives episode. Just pitch your fresh new game idea for the pc/console/handheld to the people with the power to greenlight production, or teabag you like the n00b you are. Strategy, First-person shooter, roleplaying, doesn’t matter… You are in charge. Could even be as simple as a 0.99 dollar game from the app store. Either pitch an original setting/storyline, or adapt one of your favourite movies, tv shows ect. Maybe even choose a developer who you may reccomend to the executives. It may be smart to limit the amount of greenlights each geek can give but have a few rounds of pitches so everyone has a fair shot. I think this topic will go over well because I don’t believe you guys have done a videogame exclusive podcast although I’m sure there are many gamers subscribed.

Ps. I didn’t quite convey the “Ultimate Crossovers” idea as well as I should have so here’s the best example:
Create your perfect avengers team with heroes from any publisher (dc, image, marvel…) or other existing property.

  40. Duncan says:

Warning! Massive idea dump! Just a bunch of ideas I had that i thought I’d share in case Christian is in the mood to plagerize. None of them are very fleshed out but none the less here they are:

    The Future of Geek!
The geeks have traveled into the future!! I know what you’re thinking, time travel again !?, but this time is very different. The atomic geeks emerge into a future that none of their generation will ever witness, (insert random high number, 2100?)! But it will be up to the geeks to convey to the listeners what this future holds. What are the latest trends and how far has our technology advanced? What modes of transportation are there, and how about entertainment? What is the state of geek culture? You can go the realistic route, or make it a future of wish fulfillment. What are the conveniences to this level of technology? What are the drawbacks/ what do you miss? And finally, will you choose to stay in this magnificent future, or go home to your primitive lifestyle?

    What If: The Atomic Swap!
Members of the podcast have switched places with their favourite fictional characters! Maybe Mike Downs has switched with Luke Skywalker. What would he do differently? Would he be drawn over to the dark side? How do his decisions affect the other characters and the outcome of the trilogy? Choose the time and place that the swap will occur. The swapped in geek will not be aware as he will be that character, the previous backstory will remain the same although the podcaster keeps his personality and the future choices will be his to make.

    The Atomic Geeks Store!
Each geek has an empty store in their local mall with a grand opening planned in one week! What products will line your shelves? Comic Books? Video games? Will you specialize or cater to all forms of geekery? Is the geek crowd even your target or will go for the sure money with the more mainstream demographic? What makes your store different than the average comic book/ gaming store? (Maybe a movie renting service or a gaming room). Most importantly what kind of atomic geeks merchandise can we expect? (Please no “Andrew Bloomin Onion”, sorry).

    Rides!
You have been granted selection from all fictional transportation, what will be your new ride? Heck why limit yourself to one? You’ll soon be leaving people in your dust/Tron bike trail.

    Geek Olympics!
There has always been an age old rivalry between the geek and the jock, but now geeks have been invading even ESPN with the likes of MLG tournaments (major league gaming). Although many geeks enjoy sports there are many that can’t get behind them (myself in the earlier category). What geeky flare could be added to sports to make them more appealing for the geek demographic? Add any weapon, gadget, or other item from a fictional universe that you think would make sports more interesting. Use a existing sport as a base or write the rules from scratch. Live Quidditch anyone?

Whew…. that is all. Hopefully one eight ideas is pure gold and will get me a t-shirt. Feedback would be great since I have no idea if you guys read this thread any more.

    Peace out,
    -Lil’ Dunk

  41. Christian says:

Yes, Lil’ Dunk, we read. We read everything! EVERYTHING! Just as a note, I will never be honest ever again! Handsome podcaster tries to come clean on a topic and all he gets is a flurry of sarcastic comments in the face! I became part of this podcasting team to dish out the sarcasm not to receive it. That’s not part of the deal!

  42. Michael says:

    Hey Duncan,

    Some interesting recommendations….

Oh we be reading ALL these suggestions. In fact, according to my precognitive skills another Free T-Shirt: Viewer Suggested Topic episode is coming soon!

  43. Duncan says:

Great to hear DiGio! Thanks for getting back to me… and thanks to Christian for the nonsensical rant.

  44. Dave in Toledo says:

    Hey there Atomic Geeks!

In a quest to earn a much coveted free Atomic Geeks T-shirt, I have come up with a question that might spark some dazzling conversation.

I know that a lot of people do not like the movie “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen”, including the creator of the comic, but the concept itself is intriguing.

What I thought would be remarkably interesting would be for each of the Geeks to be the founder of a new League of Extraordinary Gentleman. Who would you pick to be in your League and why?

Crossing genres and forms of media would be great, but a neat little refining tool would be that each would have to select an era and stick close to it.

I hope you like the idea. I would love to hear your discussion on this topic.

All my best. You guys rock!

    Dave in Toledo

come on guys its time to list your top 5 beers
