1 Year Anniversary Show- We Need Your Help!

Posted By Michael on January 29, 2010

Hello Geekizens,

In just a couple weeks we will be recording our one year anniversary show (slow round of applause) and for this momentous occasion we will be doing “The Challenge Of The Super Geeks!”   This special episode will be a contest to decide which of the Atomic four is THE biggest geek.

In order to determine this we will each be answering a series of  questions which will help qualify who among us is the super geek.     And we need your help!   Please submit questions that you think would rate someone’s overall geekiness.

Examples-

1) How many comic books do you own?  And how many do you currently have in your house?

2) Did you ever dress up as a superhero for halloween?

3) How many times have you watched The Empire Strikes Back?

Be creative and submit as many geek criteria questions as possible!  Our geekiness depends on it!

Ready, set, GO!!!!!

  1. A few off the top of my head…

How many times have you bought the same character in action figure form?

How many action figures do you own?

How many incarnations of D&D have you played?

What other RPGs have you played?

What picture is your desktop background on your computer?

When you see a manhole cover, do you stand on it like it’s a transporter?

Do you have to own the most deluxe version of a DVD/Blu-ray or is owning the basic one just fine?

There’s actually a pretty good article over on Topless Robot that talks about some of these “laws” or “commandments” that all nerds (and presumably geeks” should follow.

Boy am I disappointed. I was really hoping for a quicker response with some decent questions. ZING! Geeze Louise CT way to knock out some great questions so friggin’ quickly.

  3. Joe_On_Film says:

How many movie marathons have you had?

How many Conventions have you been to (movie, technology or comic book related)?

How many times have you drooled over a picture of Slave Leia?

Did you cry whilst watching the Star Wars Prequels (either in Joy or plain dissapointment)?

How many death threats have you sent Joel Schumacher?

Hope you like the Questions……if you dont then you can just piss off. :0)

  4. Downs says:

    holy fast responses
but nothing on this weeks show
    ouch

  5. Downs,
I’m almost done listening to this week’s podcast. I’ve stretched it out over the last couple days. Don’t fret, I’ll comment on it soon. I’m sure you can’t wait.

  6. Geekarino says:

    1. Can you name the title of every Star Trek episode?

    2. Are you books, dvds and comics alphabitized.

    3. Do you buy 2 of every toy? One to play with, one for collecting mint in box.

    4. Do you write fan fiction?

    5. Do you go to conventions?

    6. Did you name your 2001 Silver Honda Civic the Silver Surfer? (Maybe skip that one)

  7. QuestionMark says:

This is going to take some thought. Where are my thinkin pants?

-Name 5 Super Heroes… and their Villain Nemesis. More points for lesser known heroes.
-Can you name 3 Stars Wars characters who’s name weren’t mentioned on screen.
-Name at least 3 80’s low budget sword and sorcery or sci fi movies you’ve seen.
-Longest amount of time you waited in line for a movie, name the movie. If it was a rom-com you loose points.
-Geekiest name you gave to something. Car, pet, friend, body part, anything.

  8. Geekarino,

Your question #6 is great. I’ve had three different autos and all of them have had a nerdy/geeky name. That’s a great geek indicator.

  9. Jynxx Marie says:

-Ever fantasized about a female superhero?
    -Dressed up for a convention?
-Gotten into a heated debate over one superhero being better than another and had more than 15 references to back up your claim?
-can you name more than 10 of Spiderman’s foes throughout the comic books?
-tied a cape around your neck and pretended to be Superman—AFTER hitting puberty?
-Not gone to work to watch a geek trilogy all at once i.e:Spiderman/LOTR/Star Wars?
-Bought EVERY issue of a comic book?
-Had more than one “geeky” poster on your wall growing up (bonus points if you still have one up)
-written an essay in school either about Star Wars or a Superhero?
-Ever seriously considered exposing yourself to radio-active materials in hopes of gaining super powers?
-Bought a new gadget the day it came out? (100 points if it isn’t Apple related; 10 points if you pre-ordered)
-Dated someone because their first name was that of one of the superheroes’ love interests?
-Played more than 5 consecutive hours of a role-playing game
-ever used L33t speak in daily conversation?

Hope y’all can pull something from that :)

  10. Geekarino says:

    1. Quote Star Wars at least once a day.

    2. Picked a certain apartment to rent due to it’s distance from a comic book store, book store or video store.

    3. Masterbated to a Wonder Woman comic. I mean really, who would do that shit?

  11. QuestionMark says:

Have you ever bought a DVD/BluRay of a movie you already had, just to get the extended edition or extra features?

Can you name the exact specs of you own computer?

Have you ever imagined what superhero power you would like to have? Oh wait…

Have you ever yelled out a superhero catch phrase during sex? (By the hoary hosts of Hogarth!!!)

  12. Christian says:

Great suggestions thus far! Thanks everyone! I’m going to plead the fifth on your last question there Biq Q. Needless to say I didn’t turn into a “Big Red Cheese” but I guarantee lighting did strike! HA!HA!HA! I’ve said too much.

  13. Cordy says:

    - Have you ever recited a scenario from The Simpsons, Star Trek or a comic book as an example when trying to make a point in a conversation?

    - Have you ever gone to watch a movie in the theater, then downloaded a copy of that movie in order to watch it again the next day?

    - Have you ever argued with a coworker about the scientific inconsistencies in a film such as 2012? (seriously, like the ark-ships wouldn’t have some sort of redundancy built in that would allow the propulsion system to run in spite of the fact that a hatch was open?!? And a pneumatic hose wrapped around the gear axle is really going to stop the hydraulics from closing a hatch door that probably weighs 10 tons?!?!)

  14. geekygirl64 says:

what about – how old were you when you moved out of your parents basement? have you moved out of your parents basement?
    (apologies)
    geekygirl

    More responses!

First of all welcome to Corduroy and his first posting! Thanks for making the jump from the Twitter to the luxurious surroundings of our website pal.

Also a special hello to geekygirl64 or will I call you GeeGee? It’s nice to have a female presence on the site. Keeps us in check. Now I make sure my shirt is tucked in and my underwear is not on inside out before I post. If anything THE ATOMIC GEEKS are gentlemen. I’m actually wearing a monocle as I type this.

    Keep those suggestions coming jerkheads!

  16. jynx marie says:

Hey, christian! What am I? Chopped liver? :P I’m a girl too, you know! :O I am deeply offended..haha not really, but I figured I’d make you feel bad for forgetting me for a split second! LOL

  17. Christian says:

Whoa! Whoa! Whoa there Jinx the Minx! I just said it was nice to have a female presence on the a site run by the most macho guys in podcasting. That’s right I said macho. I didn’t forget you. Whenever I see one of your posts I always make sure my sideburns are properly combed. Don’t tell Richie Riche he’ll challenge me to a street fight!

  18. My wife came up with these two to pass along to you guys:

    1. Those who are married, did you have any geeky component to your wedding? (We had “Love Theme from Superman” play before our wedding.)

    2. Did you go anywhere geeky on your honeymoon? (My wife and I went to Metropolis, IL during our honeymoon.)

  19. Christian says:

CT! You are a liar! Liar! On my honeymoon we took a cruise on the Enterprise & we’re remarried by Scott Bakula and had a stop over on Risa! Big fibber! Makes me think of a good question though. Liar.

  20. Am not lying. My wife and I were dirt poor so we couldn’t go anywhere fancy schmancy. We drove down to Metropolis, IL (only about a 3-4 hour drive from where we were living at the time) and stayed there. Took in the Metropolis sites on one day (they’ve got a Superman statue and museum), hung out at nearby state parks on the other days, and did some hossin’ at some cool area restaurants. It was fun.

  21. Christian says:

Are too lying! I’ve heard of this place. They have a Superman festival every year. http://www.supermancelebration.net/ Might have to put this down in The Nielsen’s Family Fun Road Trip idea folder.

  22. geekygirl64 says:

    Christian,
don’t go changin’, to try and please me!
seriously, you guys aren’t gentlemen – you are the atomic gigolos!!!!
After this week’s podcast, I need to have a cold shower!

i’d kill you all! no, i’d marry you all! no, wait. No.

  23. TemplarSeth says:

    Just some simple ones:

What show have you recorded the longest using a Tivo or similar method?

What show do you have the most episodes of?

How many shows do you record – list them? The geekiest list wins…

    Just some thoughts…
