Hey guys great episode this week glad to hear you guys are trying for a new Podcast release schedule.
Just a few notes on the episode
-Downs- Congrats on finishing SG:1 its a great series and Im glad to hear at least 1 of you has now seen it in its entirety
-Californication is definately an awesome show and as you said one of the only drawbacks is that its only 30min but has anyone noticed the overall quality and plot/characters this season lacking compared to years past.
Movies
-Clash of the Titans is definately one of the best trailors out for a 2010 movie thus far, and after listening to Film Sack Ep 7: The One About Clash Of The Titans, i must admit im tempted to find the original.
-The new Harry Potter film out in 2010 is not the last movie as they have split the last book into 2 films, probably to make more money as its the last one.
-OMG yes! Daybreakers looks so good and is highly needed in this time of glowing Vampire love movies, and it has Willem Dafoe need we say more?
-Karate Kid- I actually watched the trailer mid-episode for the first time and WOW! this looks like crap. And I may be taking this too far but am I the only one who is confused as to why they have to make it about race now too? And also the kid Jaden Smith I too young/far too small, although if the fight scenes do well i guess it will be like watching the mini ninjas (GI JOE remake) for two hours.
–Robin Hood- While i do think this movie will do well and will most likely have some kickass action scenes, though i had a similar feeling when watching this trailer as i though it just looked like gladiator in Sherwood Forrest.
-Hot Tub Time Machine- great trailer i laughed my ass off the whole time. Although all the references were funny my fav bit from the trailer was the very end when the kid was asking the girl “Hey can I text you later?” too funny
-The Last Air Bender- Seriously?!?!?!?! Tell me you guys were joking?! If you guys dont know about or have never seen the fantastically written animated and produced Nickelodeon series Avatar:The Last Air Bender then you have sorely cheated yourself of an amazing series animated or not. I would HIGHLY recommend checking at least the pilot out online (surfthechannel.com or alluc.org should have it) consider it my challenge to you guys, its an amazing show even though it was only on for 3 seasons.
-Didnt hear anyone mention that The Green Hornet is set for release in December 2010, coming out shortly after the newest in the Chronicles of Narnia movies.
Christian- once again thanks for recognizing Chuck and making sure it got mentioned in the TV section
Did ???( forget who asked for it in Xmas episode) get the Kindle they wanted for Xmas by the way
Seriously?!? More Avatar: The Last Air Bender jokes?? Will someone please tell The Geeks how frackin amazing this show is?
And was I mistaken or did I hear about God of War 1&2 being re released on PS3? I hope that that is true as i have not played either of the games and would like very much to do so without having to buy a PS2.
Riche;
I don’t want you to take it the wrong way…actually I LOVE the idea of the last airbender…and I likes me a little Anime. I think the title just lends itself all too well to the jokes…
I will guarantee that I will see that in the theatre.
From what I understand there is to be a God of War Collection Released with God of War III. Originally scheduled for Nov. 10th 2009, I think it has been pushed out to be sold as a Trilogy…and of course God of War 1 and 2 have been digitally remastered to bring their graphics up to 720p. I think I wet myself a little with excitement just then
“Band of brothers, marching together.
Heads held high in all kinds of weather.
La la la la la la la
beyond the Earth, beyond the skies!
At the side of Robin, take your stand,
with the gallant leader of our band.
Send a joyous shout throughout the land!
For Rocket Robin Hood!”
Rocket Robin Hood, the memory brings a nostalgic tear to my eye.
Actually the God of War collection for the PS3 is available for purchase right now!

No Kindle for me underneath the tree this year Richie Riche. But considering that there seems to be a few more readers to pop into the market and it takes us Canadians forever to even be able to purchase one I think the best move is to be patient and wait until the dust settles.
Oh..yes…but I meant as a Trilogy with GoW 3. Which is available in March!! YAY! I’ve never been so excited for March! Or have I squeaked like a girl on a website before…well there was this one time at band camp
I tell you Big Q I watched the Rocket Robin Hood over and over again as a youngster but even then I was bewildered by the length of those friggin’ character interludes and how often they were repeated. Honestly, how I often do I need to see Rocket Robin Hood shoot that gigantic monster that never appeared in any of the actual episodes. Am I remembering this correctly? Whatever, Friar Tuck takes a bite of a drumstick and throws it over his shoulder repeatedly. Good night folks and don’t forget to tip your wait staff!
Christian,
That show never made any sense to me at the time, I doubt it would now. I don’t remember any story lines in the show, more like individual scenes that were linked together.
Clash of the Titans is definitely the movie to watch for this year. I just watched the Kick-Ass “Hit-Girl” redband trailer. My ass has been kicked… hard.
Hey QM- That Hit-Girl is something else huh? Sweet baby angel.
Good episode oh wise and mighty Atomic Geek overlords !! Except for the puzzling and quite frankly wrong comment that DiGiovanni made about Star Wars and Lord of the Rings being “not a helluva lot alike”. Well lets compare Star Wars and Lord of the Rings shall we…………………….
Star Wars: A poor little farm boy with a ragtag group of comrades must somehow find the strength to defeat the seemingly undefeatable Emperor with his vast army of evil stormtroopers.
Lord of the Rings: A poor little farm boy with a ragtag group of comrades must somehow find the strength to defeat the seemingly undefeatable Dark Lord of Mordor with his vast army of evil creatures.
Game, set and match for good old Tired Canadian, better luck next time DiGiovanni, hahahaha !!!!!
Thanks and have a swell day.
TC- Ok, Besidessssssssssssssssssss that….they are not a helluva lot alike. Advantage Tired Canadian!
But honestly, yes both films are about innocent/unknowing heroes rising up against the seemingly unbeatable darkness (if you will). Clearly Lucas was influenced/inspired by Tolkien no question. My “not a helluva lot alike” comment was more based on the look and feel of the two films. The different Genres Sci Fi vs Fantasy etc. And tones. One was more saturday matinee/flash gordon vs almost gothic/frank frazetta/Cecil B Demille epic. I think most can agree that SW and LOTR are similar yes, but also vastly different types of movies.
Checkmate?
Hey guys, great show and welcome back after the holidays.
If you Atomic Geeks haven’t seen Avatar yet, you have to get on it. Cinematic history in the making here! For shame.
That being said, the movie itself was good but i find a couple weeks after watching it, the characters to be mostly forgettable, storyline still a sci-fi Dances With Wolves clone, and me wondering if the movie was great or just the technology. I think its the new tech that makes the movie mostly and that’s not a bad thing. Avatar will always be the movie that pioneered it and it certainly is still a really good movie on its own.
You guys were talking briefly how the Avatar experience (3-D tech) will keep people coming to the theatres. I think people will go to the theatres no matter what. You mentioned it’ll be what fights downloading and renting, no way. But that’s ok too. You can buy 3-D capable monitors for about $400 CDN now. Then grab a pair of the $300 CDN Nvidia glasses and you’re geeking up WoW in 3-D. That’s now! LG is coming out with a 3-D tv in Q1 2010 and the other big names (Sony, Samsung, Sharp, etc) will be following suit later in the year. Said to be a few hundred dollars more than their equivilant in 2-D but no word on the glasses needed. We are almost living in the future boys!!!
And finally, i have to give a headbutt to Downs (i think) for spoiling the end of Sons of Anarchy Season 1 and main plot of Season 2. You got me watching it and now i’m savoring it an episode a day to appreciate how F&@#ing good this show is. But for a free podcast that’s given me a few days worth of awesome listening, all’s forgiven.
Keep on rockin in the free world,
Huffsman
Curse you DiGiovanni and your clear headed logic !!! Why can’t you be more like Christian and drink so much beer all you can say is “Fer cryin’ out loud” or some other gem of a catchphrase??
In conclusion I would just like to say that Star Wars and LOTR are both great ways to kill a sunday !!
Thanks and have a swell day.
FUCK
Huffsman you are totally right dude
I deserve a smack in the head for spoiling that shit
especially since its a love of mine
and im glad some of you are watching it
will NOT happen again
my apologies
