Episode 28 is here…shall we party? Yes, yes we shall

Posted By Andrew on August 12, 2009

Hello Geekizens,

After two long, agonizing and excruciating weeks…The Atomic Geeks Podcast is back!   And for the first time in Atomic Geeks history the boyz are together in the same room recording!   In celebration of this we decided to have a party.  An Atomic Geeks Party don’t ya know.

What better at a party than copious amounts of beer and a game of GEEK KINGS.    That’s right, a geek drinking game.   You have been warned.

Get ready for Geek Trivia, Geek Categories, Drinking Rules, and a whole lot of drunk Christian…

Cheers suckas!

In this episode I’ll admit I had a few beers. And I possibly had one or two beforehand. So if you like listening to a drunken maniac complain incessantly about Three’s Company trivia and talk about Don Rickles in Vietnam this episode, my friend, is for you. Good grief. Thank goodness my Mother doesn’t know what a podcast is.

That episode was magic. Drunken, drunken magic.I wasn’t drinking but even my liver hurt after listening.

But seriously folks, before you all got hammered (except, maybe, Christian) you were talking about why movies like Transformers makes so much money when pretty much everyone knows it’s crap. I know when I am deciding whether or not to see a flick, the cost of going to the movies makes me want to see the biggest spectacle for my money. Boom for my bucks.

I can watch a rom-com at home (not that I would) without missing the movie going experience. But seeing a Watchmen or Transformers on the big screen is an event I can’t recreate in my living room.

Good Point Q M…but still even if I am going to see a movie in the theatre and want it to be worth it…it’s gotta ALL be worth it..the effects, the explosions, the sound…AND the plot.

Granted…I just love going to movies just to be in the theatre…but I have a hard time spending 10 bucks on a ticket plus popcorn …that’s like 25 bucks to see a movie I’m pretty sure is gonna stink…now if I can go with someone that I can make sarcastic comments to…that’s a differnt story.

I am going to see District 9 this weekend and I am hoping that this movie will live up to the hype and stand up and deliver…I’ve even booked seats at the VIP theatre just cause I think it’s gonna be THAT good!

  4. Christian says:

I prefer to recreate the experience in my living room. Although my wife gets pissed everytime I use gunpowder and dynamite around the couch. Especially when the boy is sleeping.

  5. QuestionMark says:

I agree, the whole package has to be there, but some people get drunk before going… uh, I mean enough people have lower standards for what they want out of movies to pay for just the boom.

I think it’s safe to say true geek audiences have pretty high standards. A lot of us lived through the lean years where good sci fi and fantasy was rare because not much was being made. It still is rare but only because so much being made, but not made well.

Hopefully one day Hollywood (and elsewhere) will raise their standards to meet ours. Don’t hold your breath, though.

  6. Andrew says:

I also agree with Christian…in this day and age we do have the technology to get a pretty great theatre experience in our homes…granted I live in a cardboard box…but you know…most of us. I do find myself pretty excited about the newest blu-ray to come out so I can watch it on my nerd-vision…
With such amazing technology available we are only limited by our imagination…oh no that’s not right…it’s budget…oh and space…and crappy microwave popcorn

  7. Tired Canadian says:

Quick. someone call the cops because Christian is using high explosives again !! And when the cops are tazing him all Christian will say is “My explosions were way better then what that jackass Bay did and please don’t step on my Megatron action figure !!”

Well done to all the drunk Geeks for an entertaining podcast of liver destroying proportions . For the next party episode I suggest substituting vodka for beer as this will get you Geeks to that happy, fun drunken place a lot sooner. I miss the good old days when you could laugh at and with drunks like Scotty and that alien dude from “By Any Other Name”.Thanks and have a swell day.

i have to say after listening to most of the pod casts it took the drunken party episode to get me to speak up

and all i can say i wow its true geeks are people too, they can throw a great party well except for the lack of munchies and music , and oh ya girls

good job boys you deserved a night off to have some fun and it was cool that you all manged to get together in one room made for some pretty funny stuff and kept Andrew honest in the amount of alcohol consumed

keep up the great work boys

  9. Christian says:

Hey Jakeman! Thanks for the comments and thanks for taking the time to post. That episode was a lot of fun to do. It’s a pretty special occasion when we can all get together and we pretty much celebrate it exactly the same way…except without recording devices…usually. Thanks again for stopping by and look forward to future comments.

  10. Finished listening to this episode today. Great fun, you guys.

I loved the Muppet topic. Have you discussed the Muppets before on any other podcasts? I love all the Muppets so it’s hard to pick just one, but I’d have to go with Rowlf the Dog. Although Andrew’s choice of Super Grover was great. And who can’t love PIGS IN SPACE!?!?!?!
